A total of 3,079 complaints against companies and market intermediaries have been disposed of through Sebi’s SCORES platform.
SCORES Platform
- SEBI’s Complaints Redress System (SCORES) is a grievance redressal system that was launched in June 2011.
- It enables investors to file their grievances online with SEBI, the regulator of the securities market in India, against any entity involved in the market, such as companies, intermediaries and market infrastructure institutions.
- These complaints are related to investment advisers, research analysts, corporate governance/listing conditions, minimum public shareholding, venture capital funds and takeover/restructuring.
- It aims to provide a quick and effective resolution of complaints and to enhance investor protection and confidence.
- All the activities starting from lodging of a complaint till its closure by SEB| would be online in an automated environment and the complainant can view the status of his complaint online.
Types of complaints can be registered in the SCORE portal
- According to the regulatory authority, complaints can be lodged on SCORES for any issues covered under the Sebi Act, Securities Contract Regulation Act, Depositories Act, and rules and regulations and provisions of Companies Act, 2013.
- The complaint shall be lodged on SCORES within one year from the date of the cause of action.
Types of complaints cannot be registered in the SCORES portal
- It doesn’t deal with complaints against companies including Unlisted/delisted companies, sick companies or a company where a moratorium order is passed, or where the company is struck off by the Registrar of Companies (RoC).
- Bank deposits and banking; fixed deposits with non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and other matters pertaining to NBFCs. – RESERVE BANK OF INDIA (RBI)
- Insurance companies / brokers / agents / products and services.
- Monopoly and anti-competitive practices, Housing finance companies, Pension fund etc.
