The Ministry of Power has set up UTPRERAK, a Centre of Excellence, dedicated to accelerating adoption of clean technologies by industries.

- India is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing its renewable energy capacity as part of the global efforts to combat climate change.
- One of the key strategies to achieve this goal is to improve the energy efficiency of various sectors, especially the industry, which accounts for about 40% of the country’s total energy consumption.
- To facilitate and accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient and practices in the industry, the Union Ministry of technologies Power has established a dedicated Centre of Excellence called UTPRERAK.
What is UTPRERAK?
- Stands for Unnat Takniki Pradarshan Kendra is a Centre of Excellence to Accelerate Adoption of Energy Efficient Technologies
- Setup has by Bureau of Energy Efficiency(BEE), Ministry of Power also been named as Advanced Industrial Technology Demonstration Centre (AITDC).
- The main objective of UTPRERAK is to provide technical support, capacity building, policy advocacy, and knowledge dissemination to the industry stakeholders on various aspects of energy efficiency.
Working
- UTPRERAK will serve as a reference institution and showcase energy-efficient technologies in various industry sectors.
- It will also to provide training and education in energy efficiency over 10,000 energy professionals in the next five years.
- The centre will play a key role in helping industries meet and promote the adoption of new emission reduction targetstechnologies.
- It will also provide inputs for national energy policy formulation and facilitate research in energy-efficient solutions
